Patient Information

01

Pre-Procedure Visit

Your doctor's office will inform you of any pre-procedural testing requirements during your visit. Please notify your physician of any anti-inflammatory medications. A nurse will call before your procedure to address any queries and assist with post-care planning. Remember to bring your medical insurance cards, identification, and a list of current medications.

03

When You Arrive

Please report to the receptionist at your scheduled arrival time to check in. The receptionist will confirm your information, complete any remaining paperwork, and guide you through the initial steps of the admission process. Once you are checked in and brought to the appropriate area, you will be visited by your physician, who will review your procedure, discuss what to expect, and answer any immediate questions.

If anesthesia is required for your procedure, an anesthesiologist will also meet with you prior to the operation. They will explain the type of anesthesia that will be used, review your medical history, discuss any potential risks, and ensure that you are comfortable with the plan. This is a good opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your anesthesia care or the overall process.

Our team is committed to making sure you feel informed and supported every step of the way.

05

After your procedure

You will be escorted to the recovery area for a short time until you are fully alert. Once alert, you will be offered a light snack. Your nurse will review your post-procedural instructions and medications with you prior to discharge.

02

The Day Before Your Procedure

A nurse will provide your admission time and dietary guidelines. The morning of your procedure you should only take Blood Pressure, Thyroid, and/or Seizure medication with a sip of water. Avoid alcohol, marijuana, and smoking 24 hours before and after your procedure.

04

During Your Procedure

In the operating room, patients are cared for by a coordinated surgical team working together to ensure safety and successful outcomes. The surgeon leads the procedure, performing the operation and making key clinical decisions, while the anesthesiologist manages the patient’s anesthesia, vital signs, and overall physiological stability. The circulating nurse oversees the environment, provides necessary supplies, and advocates for the patient throughout the surgery. At the sterile field, the scrub tech prepares and hands instruments to the surgeon, helping maintain a smooth and efficient procedure. Together, these roles blend seamlessly to provide comprehensive, safe, and attentive care to the patient during surgery.

06

What To Wear And Bring

Wear comfortable loose-fitting clothes. Wear glasses, no contact lenses on the day of procedure. DO NOT wear any lotion, makeup, jewelry, or perfume on the day of procedure. Leave all valuables at home.  Bring photo ID and all health insurance cards, even if this is a no-fault case.

07

Your Discharge

The time you will need to recover before leaving depends on the nature of your procedure as well as your own recovery. You are not permitted to drive yourself home if you received sedation or general anesthesia. You must have a responsible adult driver, 18 years or older, and we request that you handle these arrangements in advance. Your companion may stay in our waiting area throughout your procedure, or a staff member can call them when you are prepared to leave.

We strongly recommend that you not make plans for the remainder of the day, as you should go home and rest. Please follow your physician's discharge instructions. Note: Driving is prohibited for 24 hours after your procedure if anesthesia or sedation is used.  Home Care If you require additional assistance at home, arrangements must be made through your doctor's office.

08

Billing

The Center will bill your insurance directly for your procedure, including all supplies. In addition, your insurance company is billed separately by your surgeon, anesthesiologist, and if applicable, the laboratory where specimens or cultures have been sent. You are responsible for any applicable co-pays and/or deductibles.
